Renown Health, Nevada’s largest not-for-profit healthcare network, is opening their newest clinic in South Reno. The clinic, which will be opening in the Summit Mall, will offer primary care services. There is some worry over what services the clinic will be able to offer with the possible repeal of the ACA. However medical director Dr. McCormick is hopeful. The clinic does still plan to include a laboratory with the clinic at present. The hope is that the Summit Mall Renown Health clinic will have the chance to expand as the years go on.
The space is being designed to put patients at ease; just because they are in a doctor’s office doesn’t mean it has to feel like a doctor’s office. The staff is made up of 11 people, but the desire is to hire at least two more people by the time the clinic opens.
Renown Health has a long history of aiding patients in the Northern Nevada area. Founded in 1862 as the Washoe Health System, the clinic served as the region’s first hospital. Over the years it has grown with the needs of the Nevada community. It has pioneered healthcare advancements over the years. These advancements for the area include its first cancer treatment center, its first robotic surgery, and its only Level II Trauma Center. Click here to know more.
Not only that, but Renown Health aims to give back to its community. Due to its nature as a not-for-profit, Renown Health takes all the money it makes and puts it back into its programs. This ensures that the best technology is provided when treating patients. Members of the community also work on the Renown Health boards and work as advisers. So, not only does the money stay with the community, but the community itself decides how the money is spent.
